EXETER City manager Paul Tisdale has praised Burton Albion as “a tough nut to crack” ahead of the meeting between the sides at the Pirelli Stadium tomorrow, kick-off 3pm.

“Burton have responded to last year’s good results by putting in another good season,” said Tisdale.

“That’s no surprise when you look at the way they play, how hard they work and the energy they put in.

“They’re a very efficient team with a good defensive mind-set – a tough nut to crack.

“This is a league of attrition that calls for discipline and commitment – and Burton seem to have lots of that.”

Tisdale is now the second longest-serving manager in the Football League, having joined the club in June 2006.

He led Exeter back out of the Conference then straight through to League One.

The Grecians managed two seasons at the higher level before relegation back to League Two. Exeter go into tomorrow’s game 13 points behind the Brewers – but with Tisdale eying a renewed play-off bid.

He said: “We’ve had aspirations of being near the play-offs and it might not look like that now.

“But if we can win two or three and get ourselves going, with the games coming thick and fast, you never know.”
