THE transfer deadline passed almost unnoticed for Burton Albion yesterday.
Brewers boss Paul Peschisolido had dropped hints before the weekend about making a possible signing — but all was quiet at the Pirelli Stadium.
Instead, the Canadian will rely on the loan system if he feels he needs to bring in new blood before the transfer window opens again in January.
He said: “You never say never, but it was always a long shot that we would make a signing this week, and I certainly wouldn’t have been looking to pay a transfer fee for anyone.
“The good thing is that we’ve had not a single inquiry about any of our players, so I’m delighted that we’ll be able to move forward with the squad we’ve got.
“I’ve said all along that I’m more than happy with the players I’ve got and that I wouldn’t be making signings for the sake of it.
“If we do need to bring someone in, we can always use the loan system which worked quite well for us last season.” TITLE hopefuls Rotherham United, who host Albion on September 11, turned down a bid from League One side Plymouth Argyle for star striker Adam Le Fondre.
ALBION have appointed former Staffordshire FA official Andy Taylor to head up their new Community Trust.
The body will continue the club’s work in the community in areas such as multisport coaching and education.
Commercial director Fleur Robinson said: “Burton Albion has always been a community-focused club and we recognise the importance of developing this work to further enhance the surrounding area.”
