BURTON Albion Ladies will head into two weeks of cup fixtures on the back of an excellent away day victory after beating West Mercia Ladies 9-2 at Oakengates, Shropshire.
Amber Lawrence, fresh from returning to the club full-time from Women’s Super League side Aston Villa, found her shooting boots with four first-half goals – including a 10-minute hat-trick.
And a Sarah Levitt strike sent the Brewers into the half-time break 5-1 to the good.
Second-half goals from Levitt, Uppal and Sophie Davies (pictured) followed but the goal of the game was left to Chelsie Tebble with her first for the club as great teamwork saw her beat the keeper with a cool finish into the corner of the net from 16 yards.
Manager Adam Smallman said: “I’m delighted that Amber has decided to stay with the club and focus on her football whilst also trying to help us gain promotion.
“Every single player was focused on Sunday and the team ethic is starting to show through in everything we are doing.”
The result takes the ladies up to second in the Staffordshire County Women’s League table.
They move on to the League Cup this Sunday against Newcastle LFC, kick-off 2pm at St Georges Park.
