BRACES from Sophie Davies and Sarah Levitt, and a Michelle Beck strike, were enough to keep all three points in East Staffordshire as Burton Albion Ladies saw off a previously unbeaten Hamil Road Ladies at St George’s Park.
The win takes the Brewers into sixth place in the Staffs County Women’s Football League Premier Division.
Manager Adam Smallman said: “I asked the girls before the game for a reaction to last week’s defeat, and some of the football we played today was excellent and this win meant so much to us all at the club.”
The Albion Ladies settled early into the pace of the game and took the lead after 12 minutes with a shot from Levitt lobbing the keeper.
But they found themselves 2-1 down at the break after Hamil Road capitalised on two errors from the Brewers by converting a penalty and then winning the ball on the edge of the box before drilling it into the bottom corner.
In the second half, Burton started to control the game and soon Davies got in on the scoring act with two excellent finishes, the first into the top corner from 20 yards and the second a neat cut in from the left and finish.
Albion’s pace going forward was a danger all game and Levitt hit her second before Beck rounded the keeper to seal the points.
