Burton Snooker League - Division Two round-up

IN RILEYS DIVISION TWO Alrewas C scraped a win in a close match with Tutbury C to just about stay in touch with leaders Willington.

Karl Hancox, who took advantage of a miss in the first frame to pot the final three colours, managed to beat Graham Smith over two close frames.

Alrewas captain Colin Wood shared two competitive frames with Gary Hall. Rob McMeecham played well to take the first frame off John Peto, who came back well to win the second.

Nigel Edwards lost the first frame to Jeff Siddalls and was 30 behind in the second, before clawing his way back into the frame to seal the Alrewas victory.

Belmont C lost 6-2 to neighbours Swad Cons C.

Terry Bosworth drew with Colin Cope in two tactical frames before Cons’ talented captain Craig Wilson made some good pots in winning both against Brian Cutting.

Vince Draper also won both before Bob Birch and Dave Press shared the spoils in their match/

Woodville S&S B drew with Burton Cons D in a good-natured match. Terry Eyley and Jim Gardner got Woodville off to the perfect start – winning all of their frames.

Geoff Wood started the Cons revival by taking two close frames off Eric Thornewill. Ian Protheroe completed the comeback for the Cons by beating Alan Shuttleworth fairly comfortably.

Willington D consolidated their lead at the top as they beat SDSC F 7-1. Loz Kennerson, Steve Butterworth and Steve Lane all collected two wins before Alex Read denied the league leaders a whitewash victory by drawing with Lee Cooke.

In the inter-club derby between Swad Cons D and B, it was the D team who earned the bragging rights with a 5-3 win.

In the final Division Two game SDSC E beat a strong Alrewas D team 5-3. Andy Jefferies and Tony Mitchell were both unbeaten for SDSC E.
