ALREWAS had a mixed final weekend, getting the better of a draw with Spondon 2nds at Daisy Lane before losing at Ockbrook & Borrowash 2nds on Sunday to finish fifth in Division Three of the Derbyshire County League.
Tom Chapman (31) and Ollie Broadway (31) got their side off to a good start against Spondon and 84 from Jonny Cole propelled them to 218-6 from 46 overs.
Chapman (2-48) reduced Spondon to 45-2 and wickets for Nick Richards (3-55) had the visitors struggling at 117-6.
However, Alrewas could not shift Robert Mountney (57no) and Spondon earned a comfortable draw.
Ockbrook then saw off the village side by six wickets on Sunday.
Gareth Young (4-33) provided important wickets as Alrewas were restricted to a distinctly reachable 160-7.
No-one really got going and Ockbrook were rarely troubled in reply, an unbeaten 60 from Jacob Connors enough to see his side home.
WALTON hung on grimly in the end against Wirksworth, knowing that every point mattered in the battle to avoid the drop from Division Three.
In the event, defeat would have made little difference following the news of Lullington’s loss to Trentside.
Dan Russell (3-38) and James Blackwell (4-78) kept Walton in touch but the visitors were able to post a solid 225-8 thanks in the main to Jack Allen (45) and Vyash Gobind (47).
It was Gobind (4-40) who upset the Walton apple cart after tea and the hosts slumped to 66-6 before Andy Lathbury (53) began a successful quest to salvage a draw.
