CRAIG Bryson sees his call-up to the Scotland squad as a big opportunity to impress Gordon Strachan.
The Derby County midfielder has been drafted in for the World Cup qualifiers against Belgium and Macedonia.
Scotland face Belgium on Friday at Hampden Park before they take on Macedonia in Skopje next Tuesday.
It is the first time Bryson will have worked under Scotland’s national team boss Strachan.
“I’m looking forward to it, it’s a great opportunity for me,” said Bryson.
“As well as Gordon Strachan, there’s Mark McGhee and Stuart McCall working with the national squad. They have a great deal of experience, both as players and managers in the game.
“To potentially be involved in World Cup qualifiers is a huge experience and a great stepping stone in my career.
“I have never hidden from the fact I’m really keen to play for my country. This is a brilliant chance for me.”
Bryson’s one senior cap came as a second-half substitute against the Faroe Islands at Pittodrie in November 2010.
The 26-year-old was in the squad for the friendly against the USA in May last year, but he was an unused substitute.
He has been capped at under-19 and under-21 levels.
Bryson is one of four players called into the squad along with winger Chris Burke (Birmingham City), midfielder Kevin Thomson (Hibernian) and defender Lee Wallace (Rangers).
West Bromwich Albion duo James Morrison and Graham Dorrans withdrew from the squad on Sunday night.
Scotland are currently fifth in Group A with five points from seven games.
Bryson takes the number of Derby players on international duty to six. The others are Conor Sammon (Republic of Ireland), Jamie Ward (Northern Ireland), Will Hughes (England under-21s), Kieron Freeman (Wales under-21s) and Valentin Gjokaj (Albania under-21s).
Ticket details have been released for Derby’s visit to rivals Nottingham Forest later this month.
The Rams have been allocated 2,002 tickets for the Championship clash at the City Ground on Saturday, September 28, kick-off 12.15pm.
Tickets are priced at £32 for adults, £24 for senior citizens, £16 for under-18s and £8 for under-12s.
The tickets go on sale to away members on Wednesday, September 4, season ticket holders on Monday, September 9, and home members on Monday, September 16, before going on general sale on Friday, September 20.
