JAMIE Ward says Derby County are a match for any team in the Championship on their day.
Back-to-back league victories over Leeds United and Watford have seen the Rams climb to eighth.
They are unbeaten in three games having clawed back from 4-1 to draw 4-4 with Ipswich Town.
Derby return to Pride Park Stadium on Saturday when the visitors are Birmingham City who suffered a four-goal defeat at Leeds on Sunday.
A haul of seven points from the last nine has boosted belief in the Derby camp.
“We have got a great squad,” said Ward, who scored twice in the 3-2 win at Watford.
“We know we are good at this level. Hopefully we can prove it and push on for a play-off position.
“We will match anyone in the league. We know that, we just have to turn up and play our game.
“We are full of energy and at Watford we showed that on the counter-attack we can cause teams problems.
“We have worked on a good shape, which has helped us and given us a good base on which to build.”
Ward has praised the team’s resilience.
“I think we have shown a lot of character,” he said. “We performed against Leeds, we performed in the second half against Ipswich and we have gone to Vicarage Road and put on another good performance.
“Watford are one of the best teams in the League and we have beaten them on their own turf.
“It was important that we carried on from the Leeds game, and we did.
“Now we need to keep building on the results in the last three games.”
