Injuries not an excuse, says Moxey
DEAN Moxey does not want his Derby County team-mates to use the club's injury crisis as an excuse for another poor performance this weekend, writes DAVID BROOME.
The Rams were beaten 2-0 by Middlesbrough on Tuesday night to leave the club still without a win away from home this season, and full-back Moxey is eyeing a better performance back at Pride Park.
However, the summer signing does not believe that the absentee list, which now includes Kris Commons and Jay McEveley after the pair limped off inside the opening 20 minutes at the Riverside, can be blamed.
They joined the likes of Paul Green, Miles Addison, James Vaughan, Steve Davies, Chris Porter, Stephen Pearson, Fredrik Stoor and Giles Barnes on the treatment table, but Moxey insists that the players that manager Clough picks should be good enough.
He said: "It's football, and sometimes you get injuries, but you've got to roll with it.
"We can't use that as an excuse, because we've still 11 players on the pitch who should be able to do a job."
Derby face Queens Park Rangers on Saturday, kick-off 5.30pm, in a game being shown live on television, and Moxey added: "Hopefully we can put things right on Saturday.
"QPR aren't a bad team, and every team in this league can do a job. Barnsley showed that when they were bottom of the league and beat us.
"We've got to forget about this (the Middlesbrough defeat) and get three points."
The former Exeter City wide man also insisted that the cameras would not be a distraction.
He said: "We know it's on telly, but we can't think about that, it's just another game.
"We've got to go out there and play how we play, only better.
"We've got to show it to ourselves and to the fans what we can do at home.
"We do well at home and not so good away, and we will need to put that right.
"The Derby fans are fantastic, they come in their numbers, even when we got beat by Cardiff, and we want to play well in every game for them."
SHEFFIELD United have signed former Celtic and Wigan winger Henri Camara on a short-term deal until the end of the season.
Manager Kevin Blackwell has responded to a series of injuries to key players by drafting in the 32- year-old, who had a recent trial at Bramall Lane.
Blackwell said: "At a time when we have got so many major players out through injury, he will bring plenty of experience and a bit of quality to the squad.
"He's a proven goalscorer and although he will take a bit of time to get fit, he will be able to give us cameo roles from the bench to begin with."
CHESTER City owner Stephen Vaughan insists that the financially-threatened club will clear their debts once they have been paid money owed to them.
City have been warned that they may be expelled from the Football Conference if they do not repay debts to Wrexham and Vauxhall Motors by Monday.
But Vaughan points out that City are still denied money due to them from the Football League and the Conference.
"I want to know when our debtors are going to pay us," he said.
