GOING out on the road again tonight will do Derby County no harm at all, says manager Nigel Clough.

Three successive home league defeats, the latest against Reading on Saturday, has increased the pressue on Derby at Pride Park, but away from home this season they have had few problems.

They face Leicester City at the King Power Stadium, kick-off 7.45pm, looking for a place in the fourth round of the League Cup.

“We never like to be away from home, really, but I just think at this moment in time it doesn’t do us any harm,” said Clough.

“When that first goal goes in against us at home we are feeling the pressure.

“We have got to make sure we stop the run of defeats at home, even if it means grinding out a couple of draws.”

Leicester are one of the three teams to have beaten Derby at Pride Park this season after the Foxes won a tight game 1-0 last month.

“Conceding a soft goal was the difference between the sides,” said Clough.

“It was another reasonable performance, we played well on the day.

“Leicester are a good, solid side. They are going to be there or thereabouts again this season.

“We think we are a good side as well.”

Derby have seen off Oldham Athletic and Brentford to reach the third round, and Clough says the League Cup is important to the club.

“I think the teams we have put out in the first two rounds show we want to try and get through as many rounds as we can,” said Clough.
