DERBY County fans buoyed by the club’s climb to fourth in the Championship are to make Saturday’s trip to Charlton Athletic a ‘Thunderbirds away day’.
The Rams will wear their third kit as they go in search of a sixth consecutive league and supporters are urged to wear the shirt as well.
Chief executive Sam Rush and chief operating officer John Vicars will hand out Christmas cards to Rams at the turnstiles before kick-off at The Valley.
And Rush and Vicars - each wearing the ‘Thunderbirds’ blue shirt with a diagonal yellow sash across the front - will sit with the fans to watch the game.
“We were asked at many of the Q&A sessions at pubs we visited in October and November to sit with the fans at an away game,” Vicars said.
“We earmarked Charlton as around 15 of our staff are handing out Christmas cards to our supporters as they enter the ground.
“Sam and I are going to join them and then sit with the away fans.
“We have borrowed two third kit shirts (Chris Martin and Richard Keogh) to enter into the spirit of the Thunderbirds away day.”
Derby wore the third kit for the first time in the victory at Bournemouth last month.
The third kit is on sale from the DCFCMegastore at the iPro Stadium, as well as online. Visit burtonmail.co.uk/sport and follow the links.
