GRESLEY’S new season got off to a disastrous start as they were heavily beaten by local rivals Mickleover Sports at the Moat Ground.
It was a baptism of fire for new permanent manager Martin Rowe, as his side went 3-0 down before Dean Oliver pulled one back, ended the game with nine men and saw the recently-returned Matt Roome have to leave the much after just 18 minutes following a blow to the face that knocked out several of the defender’s teeth.
A double from Simeon Oshoboke sandwiched Danny Davidson’s strike for the Derby-based visitors.
And Gresley were down to 10 men with 12 minutes of the game remaining as Danny Holmes was shown a second yellow card and then in time added on, Marc Strzyzewski was also shown a second booking, ending a dismal day for the Moatmen.
