Hart beats strong in Horninglow win

HORNINGLOW reserves took full advantage of a rain-affected weekend to move six points clear at the top of the Burton FAʼs Tag Clothing Division with a 17-1 demolition of basement side Whittington Brenstar, writes WESLEY YARDLEY.

Keith Minshall scored Whittingtonʼs consolation effort but Horninglow went to town, with Steve Hart hitting six and Curt Baker four.

Craig McGuinness and Lewis Baxter both scored braces and Seb Spiby, Kurt Storer and Bryan Barker completed the rout.

Barton Royal Oak continued their revival with a 4- 1 win over Gresley B in an ill-tempered affair.

Aaron Dughan, Sam Redfern, Kieran Wassell and Jason Stubbs scored for Barton, with Josh Guest replying for Gresley. However, the game was marred by the sendings off of Dughan and Gresleyʼs Dave Hatfield.

In the Pedigree Division, Horninglow narrowly defeated bottom side The Sump.

Richard Barks scored what proved to be the decisive goal that sent Horninglow four points clear of defending champions Stretton Spartans.

Real Medina are now up to third but were made to fight all the way as they beat Overseal 5-3.

Tom Atkinson scored twice for Overseal, with James Hanslow also on target.

However, a double from Muhammed Bojang and further goals from Asif Mahmood, Fasser Hussain and Nazqat Ali ensured Medina remained unbeaten.

Barton United reserves have put together some impressive results recently and this continued as they defeated The Dart 5-0 at Edge Hill rec.

Alex Broster bagged a brace, with Joe Parkes, Craig Jackson and Rich Lindsey also on target.

The Drum and The Seal suffered differing fortunes in their Derbyshire Junior Cup matches.

The Drum narrowly lost out 4-3 to Mickleover RBL but Seal defeated Spondon Rovers 2-1 to join The Sump in the last eight of the competition.
