In a high quality encounter Daniel Blunn and Andy Goldingay shared the spoils in two close frames, but that was as good as it got for SDSC.
Ian Rennocks beat Chris Dewey in a solid display to put Ivanhoe 3-1 up at the turn. Michael Kirk, who nicked the second frame on the black, put in a captain’s performance in beating Steve Ayre.
Andy Marriott was in cracking form, firing in breaks of 33 and 38 to beat John Davis.
Burton Cons A remain at the top after a 6-2 away win, achieved with a bit to spare, over Tutbury B.
Cons’ Darren Coady was in good form against Dave Powell to claim both frames. The Tutters’ Steve Mabbott played well in beating Mat Milnes.
John Shilton played very well in winning his two frames fairly comfortably against Chris Mabbott.
Owen Jones won his first frame of the evening at a canter against Steve Hathaway before taking the second on the black after a safety shot went awry.
Newhall A had a good win against fourth-placed Belmont A winning 5-3.
Mark Press impressed against Graham Bailey after coming out on top in two tight frames – despite a 41 break from his opponent.
Fran McInulty drew with Rich Goldby in a game full of quality potting. The impressive Wayne Brewin knocked in breaks of 49, 42, 37 and 32 to see off Shaun Gebbie.
Belmont’s Ian Archer made the score-line more respectable in beating Mark Satchwell.
Willington A moved out of the relegation zone with a 6-2 win over Ivanhoe C 6-2.
Willington skipper Bill Stewart gave his side an excellent start by taking both frames off Gaz Dolman.
Jan Pawlazych continued the good work, beating Steve Cockerham to put Willington 4-0 ahead at the turn.
Graham Measures produced some good pots to draw with Gaz Barker before Dean Johnson completed a good night for Willington by sharing his frames with Jerry Cook.
Belmont B drew with Willington B in a match which featured the highest break in the division.
Michael Lomas beat Tony Clements in his first frame before a mistake which let in Clements for a superb 50 break. He missed the chance to make more than 50 after failing to gain good position on the pink.
Arron Vaughan finally celebrated a good result at home by beating Andy Jenkins.
Willington clawed their way back into the match thanks to two winning frames from John Hardy before Miffa Smith and Steve Gaunt shared the spoils.
SDSC B got their second win of the season at the expense of Ivanhoe B. Simon Orpwood got them off to a fine start with a competent display against Stuart Tagg.
Things got even better when Brian Bloor claimed a battling draw against Jason Pickering. Andy Bloor drew with Mark Pickering in two dour frames before Garton Bloor claimed the crucial winning frame for SDSC.
Tutbury A earned a good away draw at Rileys A but remain in the relegation zone.
The two skippers, Mark Stirling and Alan Davies, shared two entertaining frames.
Tutbury’s Craig Keen won his match but Rileys’ Micky Tonks beat Daz Lester to earn his side the draw.
