THREE pupils from John Taylor High School have excelled in sporting events this summer – with one tasting worldwide success.
Badminton and football player Rebecca Bedford represented Great Britain at the World Dwarf Games in Michigan last month.
Over 10 days in the United States, the 15-year-old competed in the open class in badminton and in the GB women’s football team.
She won five golds, three silvers and two bronzes overall – with an appearance coming in the World Parabadminton Championships in Dortmund, Germany, in November.
Sean Jones, meanwhile, was part of the West Midlands Wheelchair Basketball U15 side which reached the final of the Lord’s Taverners Junior Championships.
They won every game in Stoke Mandeville to reach the final, but then lost out to the North West.
Jones, 15, who plays for the Stoke Spitfire club, received a silver medal for his efforts.
On the sidelines, Jake Lear, 18, has set up weekly training sessions for a wheelchair football team at St George’s Park.
He has also been selected for trials to earn a place in the England powerchair football side next month.
