NEWHALL Cougars moved up to second place in MARLEY ETERNIT UNDER-14 DIVISION ONE after a 4-1 home win over Repton Casuals.

Bradley Brown opened the scoring for leaders Gresley and an Ashley Green brace put them three goals to the good at half-time against Whittington Wolves.

Green doubled his total after the break to leave Gresley as 5- 1 winners, with Wolves’ solo effort coming from Ellis Hadland.

Rocester travelled to Marlborough Rovers and found themselves on the wrong end of a 6-1 scoreline.

A Ben Hammersley effort was their only answer against Rovers’ onslaught from a Ryan McMenamin hat-trick and goals from George Clamp, Joshua Ellwood and Owen Harasymiw.

The other match saw Tutbury Tigers come away from Belvedere Park with a 2-0 victory.

It was top versus bottom in HANDPRINT & DESIGN UNDER- 14 DIVISION TWO as Newhall Lions travelled to meet Stapenhill Swans.

There was no shock result as Lions maintained their 100 per cent record, with Alex Dyche (2) and James Golding firing them to a comfortable 3-0 success.

Also coming out on top by a 3-0 margin were Stretton Swifts, with Ryan Moon (2) and Liam Machin netting against Gresley White.

To complete a trio of blank scorelines for losing sides in this division, Anglesey Swifts triumphed 5-0 at Uttoxeter.

Jack Bryant (2), Liam Bristow, Kyle Foster and Stephen Morgan were the players on target.

When Netherseal St Peter's, on a winning run of nine successive matches, played host to Winshill, who had yet to drop a point in the BURTON KIA YOUTH LEAGUE, something had to give.

It was the home side who blinked first as they lost out 2- 1 to their title rivals, with a Connor Parker goal being topped by the Winshill strikeforce of Louis Ranyard and Sam Sutton.

A Charles Mann hat-trick helped Aztecs cling on to top spot, albeit by a slender margin, with further goals from Richard Archer, Mitchell Coxon and Tom Cresswell taking them to a 6-1 victory at Marlborough Rovers, who replied through Ben Tipping.

Uttoxeter picked up their first away points of the season as a Zak Johnson double and an Aaron Williamson goal helped them secure a 3-1 win at Anglesey Swifts, who replied through Jordan Peake.

The 10 players of Midway earned a creditable 1-1 draw through a Sam Hardingham strike in the match against Willington.
