Stretton triumph in the battle of leading duo

online sports genericTHE clash between joint BRIAN MOLE UNDER-12 DIVISION ONE leaders Stretton Swifts and Rolleston Diamonds produced a seven-goal thriller.

Swifts preserved their unblemished home record by coming out on top 4-3, with Kai Maw and John Palmer firing in a double apiece to hold off the challenge from Rolleston’s Nicholas Purslow (2) and James Hackett.

Hilton Harriers Lions picked up their first away points of the season and drew level with opponents Gresley in the table as Lewis Noble (2), Harrison Atter, Cameron Kemp and Tom Leighton helped Harriers to a 5-1 victory.

A Joe Bilbie brace failed to spark Winshill Green to a first success on their travels and they went down 5-2 at Marlborough Rovers, with Dominic Coe (2), Masen Roman (2) and Charlie Morton on target for the Ashby outfit.

Ashby Ivanhoe also picked up points after edging to a 2-1 win at Whittington Leopards, with Joshua Derrick’s goal for the hosts being outscored by a double from Ivanhoe’s Ben Jones.

A Danny Atherton hat-trick led the way for Uttoxeter as they ran up a 12-1 scoreline at struggling TS Sports, with further goals coming from Robbie Cooper (2), Morgan Harrison (2), Jackson Brown, Matthew Ronson and Solomon Victory-Daly swamping the lone reply by Ashley Morris for TS.

Marlborough Black ended their losing streak in DNS UNDER-12 DIVISION TWO with a 3-1 defeat of visitors Winshill Yellow, with Liam Hanson’s goal for the latter being overtaken by the Marlborough trio of Jack Robinson, Ollie Tiso and Zachary Warriner.

Also winning by a 3-1 margin were stablemates Marlborough Yellow, at Woodville Rangers, as a solo effort from the home side’s Aaron Harvey fell short against Marlborough’s strikeforce of Thomas Orpin, Thomas Smith and Isaac Williamson.

Abbots Bromley and Mayfield Panthers had to content themselves with a point apiece after an Adam Richards strike for the former was matched by Mayfield’s Aiden Bates to leave the teams locked together at 1-1.

Hatton Sports and Belvedere Red were also forced to share the points as they fought out a 2-2 draw, with Connor Lambert and Maxwell Margetson on target for Belvedere.

The top against bottom clash between Newhall Lions and Hilton Harriers Rhinos saw the former 4-0 up at halftime thanks to Josh Keach, McKlane Durdey, James Shakespeare and Luke Blockley goals.

They went on to record a 6-0 victory as Ben Boam added two after the break.
