LULLINGTON Park’s cricketers begin preparations for a busy season of Derbyshire Premier and County League action tomorrow.
The 2010 Premier League champions will begin their weekly two-hour indoor practice sessions at the Pingle School, Swadlincote, from 6.30pm.
Park, whose first team is led this season by wicket-keeper batsman Richard Green, are aiming high as they bid to regain th crown they won three years ago. And the club’s seconds and thirds face tough challenges as they look to consolidate following their promotion successes of 2012.
The seconds, under Steve Rothwell, are back in Division Three while the thirds moved up to Division Four South after sealing promotion in the final game of last season. Andy Tiso continues as captain while the fourths remain under the stewardship of Ian Cooper.
Lullington Park has also launched a fifth/development team on selected Saturdays in a bid to provide more opportunities for youngsters to move into senior cricket.
Club secretary Dave Fern said: “We have a progressive nature and are always looking to help players to develop their skills and to move through the teams and these Friday evening sessions are for players at not only senior level, but also Under 15 and Under 17. If anyone, of any age or ability, is interested in joining the club, they will be welcome at these sessions.”
