Three more hit with warnings
WEEK three of the winter season ended with more teams now being on a final warning for late results.
No results appeared for the matches between Joiners and Dart C in Division One, Rising Sun and Grange A in Division Two and Black Horse v Anchor (Newhall) in Division Four.
Results must be in by 2.30pm on Friday or they will be classed as late. Teams receive one warning and then it is a one-point deduction for any further discrepancies.
In Division Two, Crown B (Stapenhill) continued their good start to the season as Gary Sutton and young Bradley Williams both made it three wins out of three as they won 6-1 to be the only unbeaten side in the division.
Monksbridge A won 4-3 and that was good enough to put them second, and they also have two players with unbeaten records in Craig Tunnicliffe and Sam Freeman.
Wyggeston and Beacon both enjoyed last-frame victories and are equal third in the table, although Rising Sun would be in second had their card turned up.
Black Horse (Stanton) need to know that teams should arrive at 8pm and not 8.25pm, something which also applies to Q Club in Division Three.
Teams can claim their first frame if the opposition do not have four players signed by 8.15pm.
Gardens, beaten 4-3 by Shobnall A, are still the only team in the division yet to win a match.
In Division Three, some controversy at Billys stopped them going top and Gate (Branston) took full advantage by winning both doubles to just pip Mount Pleasant to be the only team officially on six months.
Chris Robson was their hero, winning the singles and doubles to put him top of the Hit Squad.
Barton Bowls followed their 7-0 success the previous week with a 5-2 success to have the division’s best aggregate as they moved into second place. They also have Neil Hurdman at number two in the Hit Squad.
Trafalgar B, way down in 10th place, have played well but won their first match of the season last week thanks to new signing Rob Elks and Brian Oliver, who both won their singles and combined in the final doubles.
Q Club and Dart A are still looking for their first points, with the latter still unable to win a match despite relegation.
In Division Four, three sides are still unbeaten and share top spot.
Crescent A won 4-3, while Branston Arms and Punch Bowl D both triumphed 5-2.
Crescent had Gerry Langley back at his deadly best, but it is Adam Edwards who is top of the Hit Squad with three wins out of three.
Branston Arms went 2-0 down to Oddfellows but five frames in a row sent them crashing to bottom spot.
Branston have two Hit Squad stars in Des Armstrong and Simon Anguish, who are second and third in the table.
Punch Bowl D also have two Hit Squad stars, with Lee Buckler fourth and Mandy Buckler fifth.
Blacksmiths had the best victory, only just failing to win 7-0 on the final doubles, but it was good enough to put them fourth in the table.
Doveside B have made an immediate impact in Division Five and look a different class as they were the only team to win 7- 0 last week.
They have won 19 of their 21 frames this season and no team have managed to take more than one off them. They also have three Hit Squad stars in Sean Bates, Paul Fox and Ryan Gibbs.
South Stapenhill SC B took a while to warm up but a very enjoyable match at Foresters B saw them win 6-1 and take over second place in the table.
They look the best of the two teams representing the club, with Dean Bampstead taking fourth place in the Hit Squad.
Coopers Arms suffered their first defeat as Spread Eagle beat them 4-3, but they still manage to stay in the top three.
South Stapenhill SC A were delighted to secure their first win, taking both doubles to pip Caribbean B.
In the Mixed Division, it has been a sensational start for Wellington ladies, who secured their second 8-1 success and have won 23 of their 27 frames to be top of the table.
Sue Lovelock and Kate Rooney are one and two in the Hit Squad.
Crescent B and Red Lion (Horninglow) fought it out for second place, with the former shooting 4-0 up before their opponents took the next three.
That was as close as it got, however, as Crescent went on to win 6-3 to stay second, four frames behind Wellington.
Grange ladies made it three out of three as they defeated Dart 6-3, and this sets up another battle for second place as they take on Crescent in tonight’s big match.
Shobnall B and Punch Bowl were both looking for their first win and the match went to 4-4, but Hit Squad number three Ryan Farmer helped the former to get on the scoreboard as they won the final doubles.
Leopard B’s first win was an excellent 8-1 success but Copper Hearth are finding it all a big struggle and have only managed to win four frames out of 27.
Billys enjoyed a 7-2 victory over Crown, who had won both their matches, in this all-ladies clash to move up to fifth, with star player Kelly Ratcliffe now fourth in the Hit Squad.
Star and Garter, beaten 8-1 by Wellington, still have Craig Wilson in the Hit Squad at number five.
In Division One, Doveside A made it three out of three as they won 7-2 for the third time to stay top of the table. They also have the top three Hit Squad stars in Graham Sherratt, Richard Bates and Dave Margett.
There was no result from the big match for second place, but Dart D beat the gallant Great Northern B 6-3 to go second.
Dave Fernandez, Burton’s new number one-ranked player, is the defending champions’ only Hit Squad star, in fourth.
Dog Inn went close to securing their first win as Trafalgar A beat them 5-4, but Beech A were certainly back to their best with an 8- 1 victory for their first success of the season.
Although Dog Inn are awaiting their first win, they do have Darren Potts at number five in the Hit Squad, and he helped them out of the relegation zone.
