Willington edge New Inn in cup

WILLINGTON got through to the final of the TAG Premier Divisional Cup with a 3-2 victory over New Inn, writes OLVA LLOYD.

Tom Bartram (2) and Rob Cox netted for Willington while Simon Bannister and Steve Illsley hit back for New Inn.

Despite Martin Young scoring twice, The Sump went out of the Division Two Divisional Cup semifinals with a defeat to Greenfield Royal Oak 3-2.

Andy Bates, Luke Clamp and Shane Potter scored for Greenfield.

In the Midlands Co-op Cup quarter-finals, Stretton Eagles beat Railway 3-1. Scott Walkman (2) and Alex Britton netted for Eagles. John Belfour notched the consolation for Railway.

In the TAG Premier Division, Shobnall Dynamo beat Hilton Athletic 3-0. Mark Henderson, Andy Dyche and Richard Lonsdale did the damage.

Elsewhere in the division, Catchems (07) beat TL Darby 4-2 and Edge Hill beat Netherseal St Peters 2-1.

In Division One, Edge Hill reserves beat Oakthorpe Athletic 2-1. Eddie Griffin and Robbie Jeffcoate netted for Edge Hill. Shane Sharma pulled one back for Oakthorpe.

The game between Midway and Kings Bromley Swifts ended in a 1-1 stalemate. Luke Siddalls scored for Midway and Paul Foster did likewise foe Swifts.

Elsewhere in the division, William IV, Alrewas, beat Miners Arms 3-2.

In Division Two, Marlboro Western Rovers lost 4-0 to Seal Inn. Adam Lewis and Steve Hawtin hit a brace apiece for Seal Inn.

New Inn Wanderers had no reply as Whittington United beat them 3-0. Steve Payne (2) and Dan Gier were both on target.

The game between Blackfordby YC and Ticknall Rangers ended in a 2-2 draw. Mark Hudson and Luke Hardwick netted for Blackfordby while Matt Smart and Matt Archer scored for Ticknall.

The match between Moira United and Etwall Rangers also ended in a 2-2 stalemate. Andrew Gibbins and Luke Tomlinson found the net for Etwall while Oliver Shaw got both goals for Moira.

In Division Three, Shobnall Rovers thrashed Viking 9-0. Stephen Anders Bibby (5), Chris Wheeler (3) and Lee Proudlove did the damage.

Grange FC beat Findern Park 6-2. Stephen Faulding (3), Daniel Creed, Mark Dowell and Kirk Davison netted for Grange. Lee Penny and Pete Cross scored for Park.

Drum and Monkey beat Hilton Athletic reserves 4- 1. Michael Staley (2) and Jordon Dent (2) scored for Drum while Steve Smith netted for Hilton.

There were no goals in the match between FC Belmont and Repton Casuals RBC.

In Division Four, Thorntree beat Woodville 6-2.

Ryan Kempf (2), Lucas Harrison (2), Scott Goodfellow and Chris Billings netted for Thorntree. Matthew Taylor and Thomas Lett scored for Woodville.

Leigh Metcalfe got the all-important goal for his team, AFC Stapenhill, to beat Oakthorpe Athletic reserves 1-0.

Travellers Rest beat TL Darby reserves 3-2. Paul Grant, Pete Robinson and Lee Cox netted for Travellers, while Orran Lovelock and Lee Watson scored for Darby.

Stretton Wanderers had no answer as Hoar Cross Hall beat them 3-0. Mathew Payne, Tom Blakley and Michael Payne all on target.

In Division Five, Branston Gate beat Shobnall Athletic 2-1. Ross Williams and Freddie Shreeve netted for Branston. Liam Dawson pulled one back for Shobnall.

The game between Hatton Wanderers and Whittington United reserves ended in a 4-4 stalemate.

Paul Witcomb, William Clayton, Charlie Yardy and Ed Poole netted for Whittington. Robert Cruse (2) and Alex Shaw (2) scored for Hatton.
