A STAPENHILL shop has been awarded four stars under the Rate my Place scheme following a partial inspection.
East Staffordshire Borough Council's environmental health team carried out a check at Stapenhill Stores, based at Hampden House in Rosliston Road, and determined that its level of food hygiene was of a 'good' standard. However, in their report to staff, some pointers were given as to why the business did not receive the top mark of five stars.
Inspectors issued a reminder that it was important to keep a log of fridge temperatures when checks were conducted.
The report stated: "It was noted that you had a copy of Safer Food Better Business for Retailers on the premises, but it was not being used. While you were regularly checking fridge temperatures you were not keeping a record of these checks."
Staff were also reminded that they should check the use-by dates on any fresh items for sale and to remove them from the shelf if the date had passed.
The Rate my Place scheme is designed to give members of the public an informed opinion with regards to where they choose to eat.
The environmental health team conducts regular inspections of restaurants, pubs and businesses.
