STEVE McClaren says this is a time for everyone to stick together as Derby County look to halt a run of three defeats.
Derby face Brighton at the iPro Stadium today in a Championship clash between two teams in the top six. The Rams are fourth, Brighton sixth.
McClaren and his players are keen to erase the memory of their heavy defeat and poor performance against leaders Leicester City a week ago.
They know Brighton will provide another stiff test and the head coach has called on the fans to play their part.
“It is how you react after defeats – how you react as individuals, as a team and as a club,” said McClaren.
“The key is that we have to stick together. The fans have to stay behind the team and we have to keep coming back and performing.
“The fans can really be our 12th man and help us to push on. This is a test of everybody when you are in a bit of a dip and you have lost a game or two.
“It is a test for the players and also the fans because they can get frustrated very easy. We must be positive.”
A nine-match unbeaten run in November and December elevated Derby to top-six contenders..
“We have put ourselves in a good position,” said McClaren. “I am looking to make sure we keep the belief. If we do and we perform, results will follow.
“What people must never forget is what this team has done in the last few months.
“It has come from absolutely nowhere and it is challenging.
“Is that over-achieving? Is that too much? I don’t know, I don’t know this team well enough.
“Over the next few weeks we will find out.”
