WOMEN attending a WeightWatchers club got more than they bargained for after they were confronted by a streaker.

Police are now hunting a man who calmly walked into Alrewas Village Hall fully dressed, spending five minutes in the toilets before leaving wearing nothing but his trainers.

Around eight women had gathered in the hall on Wednesday evening waiting for their WeightWatchers meeting to start, before falling into silence when the man reappeared from the toilets completely naked.

Incredibly, when he left the building, he was seen walking away in the distance fully clothed.

Helen Jarvis was leading the group for the night, but normally runs classes in Tutbury and Stretton, and was left ‘gobsmacked’ by what happened — thinking, at first, he may have been a member.

She said: “We opened up at 6.15pm to set up, and by 6.45pm we had about seven or eight ladies, including myself and three helpers.

“This man, in his mid 50s, walked in and went to the toilets. We thought nothing of it as many people use the toilet before the class starts.

“When you walk into the village hall door entrance you have to walk the length of the room to get to the toilet.

“He was gone for about five minutes, then walked past me, through to the entrance, wearing nothing but his trainers and carrying a plastic bag. He didn’t look at anyone, didn’t make any eye contact or speak.

“We had all been chatting. He walked past me first and my jaw dropped. Everyone stopped talking and we all stood there in silence. I was gobsmacked.

“I asked if anyone knew him and we didn’t have a clue who he was. I thought there might have been a still life drawing class somewhere or that he was a new member. Some people do take items of clothes off to go on the scales.

“After about 20 seconds one of the ladies went out to try and see him as it was freezing night and there could be children around. She saw him walking off in the distance and he had actually put his clothes back on.”

Ms Jarvis added that no damage had been done but the situation could have been worse if children had been around at the time.

Despite her odd introduction to the class, Ms Jarvis said it hasn’t put her off leading the women in the future.

A spokesman for Staffordshire police said: “We were called to a report of indecent exposure at the village hall in Alrewas just before 7pm on Wednesday.

“Officers attended and carried out a search of the area but the man had left.

“The man, who was initially fully clothed, is described as a white with a heavy build and wore a green jumper and dark trousers.

I hate how they bring children into everything, how would a child seeing someone naked make a situation damaging? No doubt they would comment something silly that would make everyone laugh and change the mood of the situation to a more humorous one? I think it showed he had balls (no pun intended) and if it's the only kick he can get out of life then so be it, he harmed no one.

Adam, she has made make a valid comment. I think most people, including the ladies who were party to this incident, would agree there's nothing wrong with the human body but do you really think it was an appropriate time & place to do this sort of thing?

I'm sorry but 'It could have been worse if children were about' Really? Are children going to be scarred for life by a naked person? He wasn't doing anything sexual or disgusting, there is nothing particularly gross about the human body, we are such a hung up society.

It took him 5 minutes to get undressed, yet was dressed within 20 seconds. I think it's a ploy to get more ladies to their meetings.
