RESIDENTS in a Burton suburb were awoken by an almighty bang yesterday morning after a smash on a roundabout.

The early morning slumber of people in Stretton was disturbed at 6.50am after an incident involving a truck at the Derby Road island at the junction with James Brindley Way.

No-one is thought to have been seriously hurt in the incident as police said they had no record of the crash.

A damaged sign was spotted lying in the road.
