A CHURCH has asked a parish council for cash to help replace its ‘tatty’ noticeboard.

St Mary’s Parish Church, in Church Road, Stretton, has already been given permission to replace the board which advertises church events and has asked Stretton Parish Council to make a donation.

The parish council has been told that the church has already raised half of the £2,000 needed for the board which will feature white text on a blue background.

Councillors were told that the present board is tatty and gives a negative view of Stretton.

East Staffordshire Borough Council has approved plans and now the parish council has referred the church to make an application for WASP cash (Ward Area Service Plan) – an allocation of money given to councillors to spend on causes that they consider worthy in their area.
