SEVEN weeks of summer fun has been organised in South Derbyshire to keep kids occupied in the school holidays.

The Summer Activities 2014 programme boasts an array of different things to do for children, all of which are free.

Councillor Jim Hewlett, from South Derbyshire District Council, said: "I am immensely proud of the wide range of physical and creative activities we offer in the district which enrich young people's lives and can make them more active.

"We've got loads of things to do, like urban laser combat, wheelsmobile, the climbing wall and the play mobile to name just a few.

"New for 2014, we are introducing the Commonwealth van. The van hosts a number of sports for youngsters to come and have a go at, including athletics, badminton, basketball, rounders and more."

"To take part, bring along a completed consent form and we will issue you with a play pass."

A full list of activities, dates, venues and times, is in the Summer Activities 2014 programme, available from libraries, leisure centres, Swadlincote Tourist Information Centre and Swadlincote Civic Offices.
