PATIENTS at a growing South Derbyshire health centre have voiced their views and opinions on the services which they receive as part of a specially commissioned survey.
Bosses at Gresleydale Healthcare Centre, in Glamorgan Way, Church Gresley, have outlined the results of a questionnaire which was circulated among all of its patients.
The findings showed that a high number of patients had successfully begun to use the NHS non-emergency 111 number and also that they were becoming more aware of the centre’s varying opening times. This was an issue uncovered following a similar survey in 2012.
A spokesman for the centre said: “The survey showed that 11 per cent of participants had used the 111 service in the last six months and 85 per cent of these participants were either very or fairly satisfied with the response provided
“A total of 31 per cent had used a local pharmacy advice service for a minor ailment and 65 per cent of participants self-treat prior to making a GP appointment
“With regard to the appointment time wait, the majority of participants were seen within three to seven days closely followed by same day or next day access.
“With regard to patient expectations regarding GP appointment wait times, the majority expected next-day service closely followed by same day or three to seven days in equal numbers.
“A total of 59 per cent of appointments offered and accepted by participants met with patient expectation.
“The key improvement areas which we agreed for inclusion in our action plan were to maintain and expand current communication networks with a view to providing practice news and information to patients throughout the year.
“We will also maintain and expand email contacts mailing groups.
“We will maintain and expand current level of appropriate patient education literature/displays in line with practice, local and national priorities.
“We accept that certain patients in certain age brackets may not engage with the practice and endeavour to tap into other sources such as Healthwatch, to obtain wider healthcare opinion and trends and information.
