WORKERS at Barratt Homes in Swadlincote have pulled together to raise £1,200 for charity.

The event held earlier this month featured a bake sale, a raffle, a story corner and face-painting.

Organised by employee Laura Colson the event, held at Pantrich Village Hall, helped to support the Friends of the Baby Unit at Royal Derby Hospital, which will put the money towards equipment used to help, and in many cases save, sick babies in the area.

Some of the equipment needed includes heated cots, phototherapy lights and specialist mattresses.

Event organiser Laura said: "This is a cause which is very dear to my heart as my niece Ava, who was born eight weeks premature, was taken care of by the charity for five weeks.

"Now, a year later, she's well and healthy and my family are indebted to the hospital for all of their help and support.

"I am really pleased that so many of my colleagues helped support the event by buying raffle tickets. I'd like to thank Barratt Homes in particular for their generous donation to this fantastic cause."
