A SOUTH Derbyshire church is holding a curry and bolognese night to raise money so that commemorative plaques can be restored.

Emmanuel Church, on the corner of Civic Way and Church Street in Swadlincote ,will host the event in the hall on August 29. The evening will include a talk from Mark Newbold, who will tell stories from his time serving on HMS Coventry during the Falklands War as well as his civilian work on the Royal Yacht Britannia.

The money received will be used to restore and renovate the memorial plaques in the church grounds.

Anyone wanting to attend can buy a ticket in advance, for £10, or £8 for those aged over 60. They can be bought by contacting Jackie Eyre on 01283 214748. Doors will open at 6.30pm, with the event starting at 7pm.
