Swadlincote pensioner suffers broken arm in robbery

AN 80-year-old woman suffered a broken arm after a thief stole her handbag in broad daylight.

Detectives from Derbyshire Police issued an appeal for witnesses after the pensioner had to be rushed to hospital following the attack in Ruston Close, Swadlincote, at around noon yesterday.

A man approached he woman and and snatched her handbag, knocking her to ground and riding off on a bike.

A spokesman for the force said: “The victim has since been taken to Burton Hospital with a suspected broken arm.

“The man is described as white, wearing black clothing, black gloves and riding a black coloured bike."
