BURTON YMCA has spoken out after funding cuts facing the charity were featured on Channel 4's Undercover Boss programme.

Paul Laffey, Burton YMCA chief executive, said: "Undercover Boss showed that frontline workers and volunteers at a small number of YMCAs are the true heroes, not only to everyone watching the programme but to every single one of our tenants and the people in crisis who turn to us for help.

"Undercover Boss gave a realistic look at the affects of financial cuts and the success stories from our work.

"The cuts in Undercover Boss had a resonance here due to proposed measures we face in the autumn. Housing managers are looking at the full impact and are in discussions with the county council. In the meantime we will continue to provide as much help and support as we can."
