Teenage girl is taken to hospital after car flips

A TEENAGER was taken to hospital after a car overturned on a rural road in South Derbyshire.

The 17-year-old girl suffered head injuries after her Volkswagen Polo rolled after losing control in Staunton Lane, Ticknall.

Derbyshire Police said the girl was not thought to be seriously injured following the smash at around 9.30pm on Tuesday, and was taken to hospital as a precaution.

Meanwhile, a cyclist suffered minor injuries after being hit by a car on a busy stretch in Castle Gresley.

The man was treated by paramedics after being hit at the junction of Castle Road and the A444, just before 6pm on Tuesday.

He was said only to have cuts and bruises and was treated at the scene.
