VILLAGERS were out in force as the sun was shining on a village gala.
More than 2,000 people enjoyed the annual Overseal Gala and Parade with organisers saying it was the best attendance to date.
Guests on the big day included South Derbyshire District Council chairman Pat Murray and his wife Sandra with Ken Sharkey and his daughter Claire as the judges for the competitions.
Attractions included music and dancing from Mark John, Sammie Mac, the Ryknild Rabble Morris Men, Sambano, Barberama, Inspirations and Irish dancing. There was also a Battle of Britain memorial fly past over the parade, a netball tournament, arts and craft displays, a photographic exhibition, a dog show and stalls.
Mel Patrick, chairman of the gala committee, said: “It was a wonderful day and it was difficult to judge how many people were there but it was a couple of thousand at least.
“The weather definitely helped and it lived up to expectations. I would like to thank everyone who attended, the sponsors and the helpers.”
