A FIRST World War commemoration took place in a South Derbyshire village.

Ticknall Parish Council hosted the event at Ticknall Village Hall which saw the unveiling of a grand memorial map to remember 128 men from the village who served in the conflict all those years ago.

An exhibition of the soldiers' lives, both pre and post war, was also available to view through photos, memorabilia, old newspaper reports, and copies of the parish council magazines from the period.

The event was well attended and just one of many war commemoration events happening across the region.
