A TRACTOR driver had to be airlifted to hospital after sustaining serious injuries when his vehicle was in collision with a car on a rural road near Burton today (Tuesday, February 12).
Police were called to the collision between the tractor and a Renault Laguna on the B5017 near its junction with Bellhouse Lane, Anslow, at 10.20am.
The tractor driver, a man in his 20s from Burton, suffered serious leg injuries in the collision, which also resulted in severe damage to his vehicle.
The man was taken to the University Hospital of North Staffordshire, in Stoke on Trent, by the Midland Air Ambulance.
A police spokesman said the tractor driver’s injuries were ‘serious but not believed to be life-threatening’.
The road was blocked while the emergency services carried out their work but was reopened after the vehicles were recovered at 12.45pm.
Meanwhile, officers are appealing for anyone who witnessed the crash to contact them.
