A BURTON trade boss has said the Government, schools, colleges and employers must collaborate to create workforce which is ‘fit for purpose’.
Leader of the Burton and District Chamber of Commerce Chris Plant made the comments after the British Chambers of Commerce released its skills and employment manifesto.
The blueprint sets out plans for a radical overhaul of how Britain prepares its youngsters for the world of work.
Mr Plant said: “Skills will decide who wins and who loses in a 21st century economy – yet employers across the UK constantly say they struggle to find employees, particularly those leaving education, who have the right skills.
“Government, schools, colleges and employers must all work together to ensure the UK has a workforce that is fit for purpose.”
