TRENT Rowing Club’s women’s junior 16 coxless quad team were victorious in Nottingham after taking part in one of the country’s biggest rowing events – the annual Head of the Trent.

Trent RC contributed five teams to the 300-strong field that took to the water across three divisions, made up of 5,700-metre and 3,850m distances, all starting from beneath Clifton Bridge and finished at either Trent Bridge or near Colwick Park.

All the Trent crews battled fearlessly with waves crashing against their boats whilst they tackled the long course, and young coxes Millie Benton, 10, and Beth McQuoney, 12, could be heard shouting commands of encouragement to their crewmates as they passed under the Wilford Suspension Bridge.

Trent ended the day with a win from the coxless quad of Jessica Gilbert, Lucy McQuoney, Lucy Fielding and Jade Smith – who won their event by an amazing nine seconds.
