THREE men have been jailed for robberies at 15 supermarkets, including two in Burton.
Amandeep Singh, 26, of Salisbury Road, Birchwood, Birmingham, Ryan Landon Shaw, 20, of Sedgebourne Way, Northfield, Birmingham, and Jani Joseph Wright, 25, of Conybere Street, Birmingham, pictured, were sentenced at Stafford Crown Court today, after each admitting several counts of conspiracy to rob.
Singh and Shaw were given four-and-a-half years behind bars, and Wright was handed five years.
The offences took place at the Co-op stores across the Midlands over a ten-month period. Shops at Woods Lane and Church Hill Street, in Burton, were among those targeted during the spate in 2012.
The offences were featured on Crimewatch and was supported by police forces across three counties.
DCI Paul Clews, senior investigating officer, said: “Today’s sentencing is to be welcomed, and sends a strong message. These crimes were committed against hard-working members of our communities and left several of the victims traumatised.
“I hope the prison sentences in some way help to bring closure.”
