COMMUNITY volunteers from the Prince’s Trust have been getting their hands and knees dirty to redecorate a Burton church.
The trust members have been involved with a community project as part of a 12 week programme and, yesterday, redecorated Kingsway Church, in Queen Street, by painting the walls and ceilings and creating an attractive front with plants.
Steve Brian, from Brewers, in Dale Street, Burton, donated paint, while Phillips Florists donated plants and flower beds, and Wayne Shuttleworth from Brandon Tool Hire, in Russell Street, donated the tools.
Steve Thornley, Prince’s Trust team leader, said: “The project is part of the 12 week personal development programme, and they spend one week on a community project and this is their taster week.
”On Wednesday, they spent the day sourcing all their own materials by contacting local businesses which we have to do as we receive absolutely no funding, and then yesterday they have been redecorating the church using the items they have been donated.
”The companies who donated have been absolutely fantastic.”
