THOUSANDS of pounds worth of tyres were stolen as crooks raided two motoring firms in Burton.
Family-run business Tired Tyres, based on the Eton Business Park, in Derby Road, is today counting the cost of its losses, estimated to total up to £5,000, after between 30 and 40 tyres were taken during a daring raid which saw thieves break-in through the roof in the early hours of Monday morning.
A further 57 tyres were taken from Kwik Fit, sited just metres away, which was raided by thieves who also got in through the roof.
Police are hunting for three men who were fimed on CCTV at Tired Tyres around the time of the double raid and are appealing to anyone who was in the area overnight between Sunday and Monday.
Two of the suspects were dressed all in black, with the third wearing a black top and light-coloured bottoms.
Frazer Jamieson, who runs Tired Tyres with his father, said he knew what had happened as soon as he saw the damage to the roof of the building.
He told the Mail: “I came in on Monday morning just before 8am to open up. One of the guys from Mr Cropper said ‘have you noticed the roof’ and I knew straight away they had got in.”
Mr Jamieson said he expects the losses to be claimed back through his insurance but that the break-in and left him and his father ‘rattled’.
“It’s a bit of a heartbreaker,” he said. “A lot of time and effort has gone into the business, then someone has gone and broken in.”
Anyone with any information is asked to call Staffordshire Police on 101.
