A MOTORCYCLIST has been airlifted to hospital following a collision on the A511 Ashby Road this afternoon.
The incident happened close to the Stanhope Arms pub and Bretby Business Park and police closed the road to traffic and put diversions in place.
Derbyshire Constabulary confirmed that the motorcyclist was airlifted to hospital with what were thought to be life-threatening injuries.
A police spokesman told the Mail: "At approximately 12.45pm on Saturday, May 24, a serious road traffic collision occurred on the A511 outside the Bretby Business Park in Bretby.
"Two vehicles were involved in the collision, a black and silver Honda 125cc motorbike and a black Ford Focus. As a result of this incident the rider of the motorbike was airlifted after sustaining life-threatening injuries.
"Derbyshire Collision Investigation Unit would like anyone who witnessed the collision or events leading up to it to contact them on the 101 number quoting incident number 331 on May 24."
