A SPECIAL film has been created to mark the completion of the £1.6 million revamp of Burton’s Market Hall.
Red Door Studios, based at Grange Farm, in Belmot Road, Tutbury, joined forces with Feel Fab! Look Fabulous Events! to create a video that would preserve the opening of the new-look site for generations to come.
The hall opened on Saturday following a major £1.6 million, 10-month revamp by East Staffordshire Borough Council.
Tilley Bancroft, owner of Red Door Studios, a Burton-based media studio specialising in film and animation, and director of the film project, said: “I am a networking associate of Rose Holden, of Feel Fab Events, and we were chatting about the reopening at the last Burton Jelly Day organised by the Love Midlands team at the Holiday Inn Express, in Centrum 100.
“I happened to be giving a talk on film for business as one of the break-out sessions.
“Rose and I thought that capturing a film of the Market Hall reopening would be a great way to raise awareness of the beautiful location and encourage local people to take a look for themselves.
“There has been a lot of interest in the renovations and I was pleased to have the opportunity to film the day.”
Julian Mott, leader of the borough council, said: “We are delighted with the positive feedback received.
“The council has made a significant investment in refurbishing the Market Hall and it was great to see so many people turn out for its reopening.”
Although just less than half the stalls have been leased, hundreds of shoppers came to see the ribbon being cut by Mayor of East Staffordshire Ron Clarke during the official opening event.
They enjoyed a host of new stalls selling everything from fresh meat to electronic cigarettes, to vintage clothing.
