POLICE in South Derbyshire are appealing for witnesses after hundreds of pounds worth of items were stolen in a village burglary.

The owners of a house in Yew Tree Road, Hatton, left the property at 8pm on Tuesday night and returned at 10.30pm to find they had been burgled.

The house had been left locked and secure but the offenders had forced out a glass panel in the back of a UPVC kitchen door to gain entry.

The offenders stole a 46 inch flat screen television, a laptop computer, satnav, a ladies gold chain and a quantity of cash.

Anyone with information is urged to call Derbyshire Police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
