A BURST water main has broken the tarmac on the road at a busy Burton crossroads – but work will not take place to fix it for more than a week.
The leak sprung earlier today at the junction between Dallow Road, Victoria Road, Victoria Crescent and Waterloo Road.
South Staffs water confirmed it was a burst main during the afternoon.
It will be repaired next Wednesday, March 12.
The delay has been caused by the fact that the company has to use four-way traffic lights, and the law requires it gives a week’s notice to the highways authority if it wants to do this.
Most of the water is running down the side of the road.
The one-day repair project will see some people living nearby cut off from the water supply, she added. Those affected will be notified by Friday.
