AN art’s centre in Burton is hoping to become the next big live music venue, if popular promoter has anything to do with it.

Alex Canner, who set up music promotion company, Wired, is now piloting a new music night, Alive, at Burton’s Brewhouse Arts Centre, in Union Street.

The centre boasts a large auditorium and stage for bands to wow their audience and Alex hopes it will become the best venue in Burton for local live bands.

He said: “Since Keith (Jeffrey) took over the Brewhouse one thing he noticed it was missing was live, local music.

“I know there are some great bands in Burton. Some that have been around for a long time and work really hard, have a good following or maybe just starting on the scene with clear direction.”

Alive will cater for all tastes and for the first night, will provide music from Tilted Smile, Five Days of November, and Star from Ivy.

Alex added: “I want it to show people in Burton that we have some fantastic, credible live acts with an established and really good following.

“This gives them the opportunity to play on a really big stage.”

The gig takes place on Thursday, February 6 and doors open from 7pm.

Tickets cost £5 on the door, or ring up the box office for tickets and further information is availbalr by visiting www.facebook.com/alivebrewhouse
