VIDEO: Moscow City Ballet to visit The Regent Theatre

Moscow City Ballet celebrates its Silver Anniversary by visiting The Regent Theatre for the first time between Tuesday, 26 November and Thursday, 28 November, performing two of their most famous and best loved classical ballets – Swan Lake and Nutcracker.
Moscow City Ballet is currently at its outstanding artistic best, winning new invitations to perform internationally.
Swan Lake is performed in all its original splendour by some of the world’s finest dancers. The epic story of Prince Siegfried and his love for Odette, who tricked by the evil sorcerer Von Rothbart and his daughter Odile would rather die together then live apart, the ballet is performed beautifully to the familiar score by Tchaikovsky.
Timeless classic The Nutcracker is complete with stunning costumes, sets and Tchaikovsky’s masterpiece score. This enchanting ballet tells the story of Clara’s magical adventure with her Nutcracker Prince, including a visit to the delicious Land of Sweets and the delightful Sugar Plum Fairy, and is a real festive treat.
Two performances of Swan Lake will take place, the first on Tuesday, 26 November and the second on Wednesday, 27 November, both at 7.30pm.
There will also be two performances of Nutcracker, both taking place on Thursday, 28 November – one at 2.30pm and the second at 7.30pm.
Founded in 1988 by Victor Smirnov-Golovanov, who sadly died in April this year after a long struggle with cancer, Moscow City Ballet remains in the safe hands of his devoted wife LudmilaNeroubashchenko, who has been leading the ballet company for the last few years, will now officially take on the position of Artistic Director and will continue to preserve Victor's unique choreography and productions as well as the commitment to promoting ballet in the Russian Classical tradition all over the world.
We are looking forward to a successful 25th Anniversary Season of 2013-2014. Neroubashchenko, who has been leading the ballet company for the last few years. Ludmila will now officially take on the position of Artistic Director and will continue to preserve Victor's unique choreography and productions, as well as the commitment to promoting ballet in the Russian classical tradition to audiences all over the world.
Ludmila said: “It’s been an incredibly sad time for Moscow City Ballet with the passing of Victor but we have found strength in the kind messages sent from people around the world. We are committed to continue entertaining audiences with our Russians jewels performed by world class dancers. This season we celebrate our 25th Anniversary, so we hope to commemorate it with a magical and entertaining tour in memory of Victor Smirnov-Golovanov, former Bolshoi Ballet soloist and distinguished choreographer.”
Moscow City Ballet will be accompanied on tour by the Moscow City Ballet Orchestra who provide a dynamic vitality to this remarkable season of dance.
