PEOPLE are being urged to head to Birmingham as a special performance of a popular stage has now entered the final four weeks of its run in the areas.

WIcked, the show that tells the incredible untold story of the Witches of Oz, is now in the final four weeks of its run at Birmingham Hippodrome.

More than 100,000 tickets have been snapped up for the show's only Midland date on its first ever UK Tour.

Stuart Griffiths, chief executive of Birmingham Hippodrome, said: "Wicked is one of the most successful musicals of all time and we are delighted that so many people continue to make it such a popular choice over the summer.

"We therefore look forward to welcoming more theatregoers as we approach the final four weeks of its run here at Birmingham Hippodrome."

Wicked executive producer, Michael McCabe said: "We have been overwhelmed by the reception we have received at Birmingham Hippodrome from both audiences and critics alike.

"As we head towards the first anniversary of this record-breaking UK tour, and begin our final few weeks in Birmingham, we are proud to have been able to bring Wicked to this wonderful theatre and grateful to the city for its generous support."

The production has broken countless box office records and already received multiple five star reviews across England, Scotland, Wales and Ireland.

The award-winning London production continues its open-ended run at the Apollo Victoria Theatre, where it is now the 10th longest running show in the West End. Around the world, Wicked has already been seen by 42 million people in 13 countries, and won 100 international awards.

In a re-imagining of the stories and characters created by L. Frank Baum in 'The Wonderful Wizard of Oz', Wicked tells the untold story of an unlikely but profound friendship between two sorcery students.

Their extraordinary adventures in Oz will ultimately see them fulfil their destinies as Glinda The Good and the Wicked Witch of the West.

Wicked has music and lyrics by Stephen Schwartz, a book by Winnie Holzman, musical staging by Wayne Cilento and is directed by two-time Tony Award winner Joe Mantello.

Wicked is based on the international best-selling novel, 'Wicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West', by Gregory Maguire.
