A WOMAN has been banned from driving for attempting to drive her car while over the legal alcohol limit.
Kathryn Robinson, 53, of Beech Road, Barton, appeared at Burton Magistrates’ Court yesterday were she pleaded guilty to the offence.
She was arrested by police on December 6 at Londis car park in Linden Road, Barton.
She had 106 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath. The legal limit is 35.
The court heard that Robinson, who was dressed in a hospital gown at the time of her arrest, was prevented from driving off because a large amount of people had turned up at the scene.
Emma Thompson, prosecuting, said: “She had been to Londis to buy a bottle of brandy in the morning and later went back to buy another bottle.”
Defending, Mark Moore, said Robinson had experienced difficulties with depression and drink after losing two major contracts at work.
Magistrates imposed an 18-month driving ban, a 12-month community order with a supervision requirement and costs amounting to £145.
