MOTORISTS have been warned to allow extra time for their journeys this week, with roadworks near Burton Town Hall set to cause delays.

Vehicles will be unable to turn right from Derby Street towards the town hall at the one-way system for the rest of this week and will instead be diverted up Borough Road towards the train station.

Curzon Street will also be closed until Friday as National Grid carries out gas works in the area during the week.

King Edward Place was also closed to traffic yesterday, but was expected to reopen today.

National Grid confirmed access for emergency vehicles would be maintained at all times.

It said the one-way system was expected to operating normally again on Friday.

Anyone wanting more information is asked to call Staffordshire County Council 01785 215153.
