STAFFORDSHIRE County Council is urging its young sporting talent to come forward and apply for funding.
The authority revealed that its Young People’s Sports Performance Grant Scheme closes on Friday, March 1.
Each year, the scheme provides funding to support young sports people who either live or go to school in Staffordshire and have proven to excel in their sport.
Last year, the scheme supported 42 young people who have continued to excel in their chosen field.
Pat Corfield, cabinet member for culture and communities, said: “The scheme was developed with a view to supporting young athletes who were aiming to compete for Great Britain at the London 2012 Games.
“We now wish to continue to recognise and support those athletes from the Staffordshire administrative area aiming for future Olympics, Paralympics and major international competitions.”
